The Harlem Renaissance Pavilion is an award-winning urban design proposal that was conducted for the re-imaging of several major New York City streets and pedestrian thoroughfares. Jerome Haferd Studio collaborated with several NYC architecture firms and consultants to develop a scheme which re-imagines the street through the lens of pedestrian and bike access, sustainability and heat reduction, and shared public amenities. The Harlem Renaissance pavilion, by Jerome Haferd Studio with the same urban design collaborators, is a built prototype of a “public canopy” structure. Working with local artists like Thomas Heath, the project created an outdoor gallery and public amenity.
